| |
| Jimah Energy
Ventures is very committed in managing the
environmental concerns related to the project
implementation. Besides contribution to the Nation
by the active participation in the power sector, Jimah is also environmentally sensitive to the
surrounding area and to the local communities. Jimah
also gives its full commitment in the environmental
issues concerning the water, land, air and noise
quality that give possible impacts to the
surrounding public. This is obvious as each unit of
the coal fired power plant project shall be equipped
with a Flue Gas Desulphurization (FGD) plant,
Electrostatic Precipitator (ESP) and low NOx burners
which will minimize emissions to the permitted
level. This is to ensure that a safe and healthy
working environment as well as a living environment
for the surrounding community. |
| |
| Through the Detailed Environmental Impact
Assessment (DEIA) approval obtained from Department
of Environment (DoE) on January 2005, Jimah always
ensure that all mitigating measures are performed to
prevent, control and abate all type of pollutions to
surrounding during construction, commissioning and
operation. Sampling are done frequently to monitor
closely pollutions that take place so that adequate
measures shall be made promptly. |
| |
| Besides pollution, Jimah also concerns on the
mangroves vegetations in Jimah land is preserved and
rehabilitated. Studies had been done on the flora
and fauna of the mangroves area as part of the
mangroves rehabilitation plan of Jimah Power Plant
which not only involved the mangroves trees but also
the mammals, inland forest birds, migratory birds,
insects as well as crustaceans and mollusks. This
shows that Jimah is very concern in rehabilitation
of the entire mangrove ecosystem and its dependent
flora and fauna surrounding the power plant. |
| |
| In socioeconomic, Jimah shows its concern
regarding the fish catchments to the surrounding
fisherman. Jimah also gave compensation to the local
fisherman to express their concern to the locals to
both Selangor and Negeri Sembilan areas. |
